Description

Ziziphus, originally from southern China and central Asia, has long since become naturalized in the Mediterranean basin. The fruits of ziziphus eaten fresh or dried have a certain emollient, laxative and diuretic effect. They are therefore used to treat people with irregular alvus, throat inflammation, bronchitis and hoarseness. The seeds of this plant have always been used by traditional Chinese medicine for its activity against insomnia.
